Villa Goal Watch - 29/01/12
The Under 9's Blues hard work on the training ground paid off after a fantastic goal was scored by Josh Lord. Having practised the same routine on Saturdays, Ira Catantans cross was met by Josh on the half volley, which flew past the keeper.
Villa's Under 12's Reds played marks Tey with only 10 men but battled back to earn a 2-2 draw. Prolific striker Piers Hobson hit the crossbar and Jack Prior missed with a good effort whilst Villa goalkeeper Jake Fewell made some great saves in the first half. It was 0-0 at half time but Marks Tey scored twice quickly in the second half, before the Villa come back began. Piers making one of his great runs and putting it past the keeper then with five minutes to go, it was Piers to the forefront again as he ran at the opposition defence before rounding the keeper and slotting the ball home. It was a great performance by the whole team, well done boys!
The Under 15's Blues won a feisty encounter with rivals Elmden Rovers thanks to goals from Lewis Dyble, Michael Challinor and Alex Burt. A pin point 40 yard cross was tucked away with a well placed finish by Lewis to give Villa the lead. Michael went on a mazy into the box and when forced wide, managed to finish from the tightest of angles. It was left to Alex to make the game safe with a well taken outside of the foot volley that nestled into the corner of the goal. 3-0 the final score as the lads pick up a vital win to move them three points ahead of Elmden in the table.
The number 13 is commonly perceived to be an unlucky number... not for the Under 12's Blues, who smashed 13 past Lawford on Sunday. The boys put in another great team performance despite the freezing cold and wet conditions. Dominating the first half, Villa beat Lawfords high line on numerous occasions going into the break seven goals to the good. Two each for Cameron Ismail and Morgen Bardell plus a goal each for Rhys Owen, Eldon Taylor and Chris Langohr put the result beyond doubt. The offside trap wasn't working for the hosts as Morgen duplicated his first half performance with another double to take his tally to four, with Jack Shepherd scoring a fantastic hat-trick and Ben Polley finishing it off with lucky number 13. Well done boys!
Villa Goal Watch - 22/01/12

After good passing from the boys, Adam Wrathall struck the ball past the goalkeeper in the first game to add to his tally for the club. In the second game, the rain started falling but all the boys from both teams battled on and after a goalmouth scramble, the ball trickled over the line, with Bailey Dunn believed to have got the final touch!
At the other end of the age range, the Mens team played at home to Polstead in the first round of the Osbourne Cup. The guys continued their good form with a 5-0 victory, though Player-Manager Joe Cameron-Wallace had his blushes spared early on when the ref pointed to the spot after a push. It was left to Villa goalkeeper George "The Cat" Scott, who won the mind games and dived the right way to stop the penalty from nestling in the bottom corner. Villa took the lead through Tom Vickers first ever goal for the club he's been with for two seasons, a great hit from 20 yards. But it was Josh Hodgson who scored four goals yet again. Some great assists from Tyson Browning, Andy Gardner and player-manager Joe Cameron-Wallace. The unbeaten run now stands at seven games, with six wins and a draw.

A tremendous team display from the Under 9 Blues saw top scorer Mackenzie Ratcliffe smash a half volley, within a crowded penalty area, which slipped through the opposition goalie’s arms over the line. He scooped it back but the decision was clear GOAL MACKENZIE!!!
Colchester Villa Men’s returned to league action for the first time in 2012 with a home fixture against struggling City Saints. The Villa defence was made to work hard in the first 15 minutes as the basement boys piled on some early pressure. Yet as in so many games this season our ability to counter at pace led to a flurry of goals in the first half, Josh Hodgson finishing all four. One finish was worth mentioning in particular, Josh sprung two defenders and rounded the goalkeeper, yet he “looked to have run out of real-estate” but somehow managed to finish from an acute angle. The second half was comfortable for the Villains, Nick Platt scored from the penalty spot and Josh scored his fifth whipping the ball into the top corner from 20 yards. A special mention to Tom “Diana” Vickers who was “Arbeit” personified as he bossed the midfield area today.

Villa Goal Watch - 08/01/12
On FA Cup Third Round weekend the Mens team were denied a giant killing in the final few minutes after a dominant display at Highwoods in the WCT Cup. The first half was slightly edged by their opponents, premiership side CUSA, who numbered three former villains in their ranks. George Scott produced two saves of note in the first half from close range to keep the scores level. The second half was totally dominated by Villa, the reward coming five minutes into the second half when Josh Hodgson bent one in from range. Unable to find the net for a second time, despite a number of excellent chances, we conceded a scrappy late equaliser. Overall a good performance and warmup for the guys as they enter the business end of the season.

Villa Goal Watch - 18/12/11
It was a sweet sixteen for Colchester Villa's Under 12's Blues as they ran rampant against Lawford Juniors Reds, winning 16-2! The opposition were playing a very high line in an attempt to catch the boys offside, which worked on a few occasions however Villa finally broke the offside trap and it was Morgen Bardell who finished to set them on their way. Star striker Jack Shepherd hit five goals to increase his tally for the season in emphatic style. Owen Goodrich scored a brace, as did Rhys Owen, who's first was after good pressure and finishing at the second attempt when trying to beat the keeper. Rhys' second was a fantastic goal from a wide position just inside the area, smashing it over the keepers head and into the far corner, nestling just inside the post. Morgen scored another, almost from the half way line, with Cameron Ismail also getting in on the act, bagging a hat-trick. Julius Uwimana made an immediate impact when coming off the bench, causing the Lawford defence all sorts of problems before getting finishing smartly to get his goal. It was left to the Villa goalkeeper to finish things off, Ben Polley coming out on pitch at half time and scoring late on to put the icing on the cake. Great effort from all the boys in freezing conditions with Julius getting the man of the match, with his teammates chanting his name after the game! Well done lads!

ARBEIT was the cry as Villa comprehensively outworked Colchester Utd Deaf. Josh Hodgson blossomed once more scoring four goals today, Josh was ably partnered by our considerable battering ram Daniel Thompson. Bryn Thomas struck from range and the ever combative Tyson Browning rounded off the scoring. Villa sit top of the league going into the Christmas break knowing that with more ARBEIT in 2012 anything could be possible.

Goals from top scorer Josh Hodgson gave the Mens team a 2-0 lead within 5 minutes but the momentum faded away. With both Rhys and Jack on a hat-trick and plenty of chances being created by the team, it wasn't long before they were celebrating more. Jack was first to complete his hat-trick, and after being fouled in the box, Rhys had the opportunity to complete his but unfortunately put it wide... This didn't stop him however, as shortly after he did find the back of the net to secure his third and the teams eighth!

A special mention to the Blues goalkeeper, Alec Slater, who made two fine saves during the game. One diving to his left was only bettered by a point blank save, as the Under 11's Blues picked up yet another clean sheet! Well done boys!Villa Goal Watch - 04/12/11
